Support for healing from painful experiences

Sometimes, the past continues to affect how you feel in the present. You may understand what happened and still find yourself feeling on edge, overwhelmed, or caught in familiar patterns.

You deserve space to explore those experiences with compassion.

At Hearts to Healing Therapy, I offer personalized therapy for adults, including EMDR when it fits your needs and readiness. Together, we can work toward helping you feel more grounded, connected, and confident in your daily life

What Is EMDR Therapy?

EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. It is a structured, research-supported psychotherapy used to treat trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

During parts of treatment, you briefly focus on a distressing memory while engaging in guided side-to-side eye movements or another form of bilateral stimulation. The goal is to reduce the distress associated with the experience.

EMDR does not erase your memories. It may help those memories feel less overwhelming.

Could EMDR Be Right for You?

You may want to explore EMDR if painful experiences continue to affect your sense of safety, relationships, or beliefs about yourself.

You might notice:

  • Strong emotional reactions to reminders of the past.

  • Avoiding situations connected to a difficult experience.

  • Feeling on guard even when there is no immediate danger.

  • Shame or self-blame connected to what happened.

  • Difficulty feeling safe or trusting others.

These experiences can have different causes. We will discuss your concerns and determine whether EMDR or another approach fits your needs.

What to Expect

EMDR follows an eight-phase treatment approach. We begin by discussing your history, current concerns, and goals, then focus on preparation before working with distressing memories.

Preparation can include learning grounding strategies and ways to manage difficult emotions. When you are ready, we identify experiences to address and begin guided processing.

Throughout treatment, we check in about your responses and progress. You can ask questions, request a pause, and share what you need.

A Compassionate, Collaborative Approach

You do not have to have everything figured out before reaching out.

My approach makes room for your experiences, strengths, and goals. I welcome adults of all genders, with a special focus on professional women navigating overwhelm, people-pleasing, and the weight of past experiences.

Together, we can explore how your past affects your present and what meaningful change could look like for you.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will I need to describe every detail of what happened?

EMDR generally does not require a detailed verbal retelling of every part of an experience. We will discuss enough information to plan treatment and support you throughout the process.

How many sessions will I need?

The length of treatment varies with your history, goals, and preparation needs. We will discuss a treatment plan and review your progress together.
